Game on!

Click to “play”!

Allow me to thank those who have helped me a lot through this painful moments of action scripting!

Finally almost everything is working as it should! I’m so happy! There’s something funky going on with the items listed in the array after you reach a certain point. I have been toying with the numbers and such, but didn’t really go anywhere. I don’t really have the time to figure it out either or bug someone else.

Oh well! I’m just glad things are working!

Problems with buttons

November 28, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

Making the titlescreens and buttons were painless, but for some reason the buttons doesn’t want to work. I’ve asked the teacher for solutions and got a couple of suggestions on how I could solve it. I followed the suggestions, but it still doesn’t want to work. Seems like he got it working though, why not me!?

I get no error either.

*insert BAWL here*

Case 10

November 26, 2009 | Category: Case 10 | Leave a Comment

In this case you’re going to make a title screen and a screen for when the game ends oand game over. There must be a introduction screen with instructions and with a functional button to start the game, etc.

I plotted in the codes and get this weird error. The error goes away if I delete the buttons that I’m supposed to use. I have no idea what’s going on. When I export it, I get a blank screen, but the BGM is still there. Been asked a couple of guys from our group and they were pretty clueless too. Typical! I’m quite sure that I’m going to hand in an incomplete game this Monday.

Sigh.

Case 9

November 26, 2009 | Category: Case 9 | Leave a Comment

In this case you’re going to insert background music and sound effects that will be triggered by things inside the game. Make it happen with Action Script 3.

This case was fairly easy, I’ll post a link to it.
WARNING LOUD MUSIC!!
I did try to adjust the volume with the scripting, but it didn’t really do much difference.

Still working on the sound effects.

Case 8

In this case you have to make your hero pick up things and get points for doing so. Also make some other objects that the hero will react to. The last thing in this case is to make a timer appear somewhere so you can keep tre track of time.

Had a lot of help here from Hege! Though I didn’t make things that the main character is going to “react” to. It will be when I’ve got all the other things on place.

Case 7

In this case you’re going to put in a new character who will follow your main character. Make a reaction when the two characters hit eachother and make one of them disappear or play a new animation.

Click to “play”!

Here’s my following, they’re not reacting to eachother yet. Still wroking on it.

I followed the example codes on Fronter, wasn’t so bad making it happen!

Moving around!

Enter a yeti’s childhoos trauma dream, if you dare.

Click to “play”!

The “ice” in the background lost its transparrency when I made it into an object! Why? It worked well with the ice-cubes…

Anyways, to make it happen I had to create an own class and funtion for the background and ground.

This is placed under the walking functions

if (_sprite.x>=150) // make it scroll
{
_spritename.x= 150;
}//end if

> goes under the right function
< goes under the left function

The numbers must be figures out individually I guess.

Case 6

In this case you’re going to design a background and other characters for your game. Find out how you can make the background scroll with your character if needed. In the blog you’ll have to describe the story of your game, expand your ideas and make it “sell” to curious gamers.

Due to annoying hedache beyond reason, I decided to stay at home today. Urgh I say.

Here’s the story
You’re an Anti-Soup Trooper, woking for self proclaimed professor, Prof. Fleur, Ph.D in advanced soup philosophy. Alas the “professor” burnt his tongue on some very hot soup and permanently lost his sense of taste. Raging with anger, he wishes to vanquish all soup from the face of the earth and defeat his arch nemesis Souper Hero. He sends an A.S.T to retrieve a rare mushroom, the sacred mushroom, only found in the dreams of yesterday. The sacred mushroom is his nemesis’ favourite ingredient and plans to use it for a soup cook-off. Without the special ingredient the soup will become utter failure!

The yesterday dream you’re about to enter is none other than a Yeti’s dream about his childhood traumas. Will you be able to sneak past the pink ghost of horrorriffic horrors and make it to the mushroom before the Souper Heros sidekick enters the dream? Will there be such a thing as tasteless sweet revenge for Prof. Fleur? Stay tuned!

Here’s the background, panning in all its glory.

Here’s my monster, I changed my mind about the original one. just wanted to keep it simple.

I think it’s scary. D:

Case 5

October 26, 2009 | Category: Case 5 | Leave a Comment

In this case you’re going to make your character walking on a line and follow it. You’ll also make it jump and set gravity and velocity. The right and left key is also supposed to work while the character is jumping.

Here he is, on a box. If he falls, he won’t come back up again, but there’s always F5!

Please do move him around with the directional keys and jump with the “up key”, click inside the flash window to activate.

There was a lot of confusion about the coding. I tried to put in the missing codes by looking at the example in the Case 5 handout. After plotting in some of the missing codes I got completely lost and didn’t really remember what I did. There was some fever/sickness bugging me that week. Bleh!

There was alot of failing and I had to get help from the others. Thank you people!

Case 4 complete!

Hurray!

Please do move him around with the directional keys, click inside the flash window to activate.

My problem was understanding what was named what inside the .as file. I though that _sprite was going to be the same name as my keyframe, but that goes in (“namehere”), suddenly I feel that I understand a little bit more.

Yay!
